Pairing suggestion list from Garmin tech support

Phone settings > Notifications > Show Previews set to 'Always'.
Phone settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Previews set to 'Always'.
Phone settings > Bluetooth > (select device 'i' icon) Share System Notification enabled.
Go to Garmin Connect Mobile.
Tap 'More'.
Scroll down and tap 'Garmin Devices'.
Tap the Edge 1030.
Tap the 3 dots at the top right.
Tap 'Remove Device' and then 'Remove'.
Go to phone settings.
Go to Bluetooth and unpair all former Edge 1030 connections.
Go back to Garmin Connect Mobile.
Tap 'Garmin Devices'.
Put the Edge 1030 into pairing mode.
Tap 'Add Device' in the Garmin Devices area.
Tap 'Browse Compatible Devices'.
Tap 'Edge' and then 'Edge 1030'.
Tap 'BT_Edge1030' in 'Select an Accessory'(It may take 1-2 minutes to appear).
Continue through pairing process.

This was fixed in the recent software update (9.00).

Does not work for me (iOS 13.1, Garmin 8.0).

Me either. iOS 13.1, Garmin 8.0, iPhone 11 Pro Max. The only accessory that shows up is “Edge 1030”. No “BT_Edge1030”. It goes thru the pairing process giving you the pairing code than finally says there was a problem. Interesting that iOS 13 worked ok with my iPhone X. Wonder what hardware difference there is?

Just got mine to pair after many tries. iPhone 11 Pro on 13.1. Deleted all the pairings, rebooted both iPhone and the edge, went into Apple settings for the Connect app and toggled allow Bluetooth off and then back on, modified Apple location services to always, and then initiated the pairing. Got the pairing code, accepted on both devices at the same time, and it began to transfer data.

I think the simultaneous pairing code acceptance is the deal. I know it sounds like guesswork and it is, but I have gotten mine to pair twice this way. First time the garmin disappeared from GC after reboot of phone.
