Still no forums for Edge 1000 or Edge Explore 1000

When will they be reinstated? Next decade? Possibly never?

I also notice that there is no forum for commenting on problems with the forum software. When I open the forum home page in my web browser, before I login to the forum the data fields on the screen default to displaying in German - see screenshot below - the search, login, and last activity fields are German. After I login, the fields change to English.

  • I'd be tempted to go for no.3 (although I sure hope that is not the case) as the notice regarding reinstating the archived forums has disappeared from the main page.

  • Is the Edge 1000 possibly at the end of its official "support life"? Seems like I got an update not that long ago, but maybe that was the final one? Whatever, I don't consider mine to be old or obsolete in any way and am not sure I'd consider a 1300 to be worth updating to.

    oh the last update was a beta. And for my opinion: support life should not matter for a user forum

  • It will not be reinstated.  At least if the past is any indication.  As Garmin moves new products in, they shut down the old forums and prevent access.  That's the way its happened over the last decade or so.  

    Why does Garmin do this?  These forums cost them almost nothing except bandwidth.  They don't staff the forums for the most part.  Looks like a marketing ploy to push consumers to their new stuff, nothing more.

    Garmin's German support staff seem considerably less incompetent than their English-speaking counterparts. Not only did the German language forums appear several days earlier during the forum software changeover, but they now have forums for 20 separate legacy fitness devices: forums.garmin.com/.../.

  • Unreal! Hey Garmin, if you’re listening, let’s get the Edge 1000 forum back up and running. The product can’t/shouldn’t be considered "old" if you’re still issuing updates. There’s no excuse for this, or for closing out the discussion on this new forum about you closing out, or not migrating, an Edge 1000 discussion.

  • We are working on getting the Edge 1000 added back to the Cycling Board. Unfortunately at this point I do not have a timeline. I apologize for the inconvenience and confusion.

  • Please reinstate the lost forums and data. I can understand migration of data perhaps being an issue, but I assume your company has a solid technical support staff in-place. I am one more Garmin Edge 1000 owner that is considering moving from Garmin hardware simply due to the inconsistencies with software and support.  Thanks.
