Bluetooth Pairing issue

Long story short is that when pairing my iPhone and 1030 it presents the BT_ device first to the phone when the text says it should first be the non BT_ device. If you go ahead it doesn't work. It has worked for 18 months but removing and trying to repair has led nowhere.

1030 6.3
iPhone 6S+ IOS 12.0.1

Have reset 1030
removed and reinstalled connect app
rebooted ad nauseum

Help appreciated

  • Same issue - 'Connection Unsuccessful. Make sure "BT_Edge 1030 is turned on and in range' ARRGGGHHHHHH

Garmin - considering I forked out a ridiculous amount of money for the Edge 1030 only yesterday, and I cant even connect it to my iPhone - you guys aren't earning any brownie points right now!!!

Did anyone find out how to fix it???

Welcome to the crazy world of the 1030.
We've all been waiting many months, for some 14 months, so G would finally make this thing work. You know - do what is's supposed to do reliably and consistently without any fuss - properly representing the flagship product from the market leader. Most 'upgraded' from an earlier model.
  • Is it possible that your Iphone has some incorrect setting that is causing the disconnects? I ask this because I have not had any problems connecting and staying connected with a Iphone 6 on IOS 12.1. I have two friends with 1030's and Iphones and they also do not have any of these problems. I don't know much about the endless assortment of settings on the Iphone but it seems strange that some Iphones have problems with the 1030. Perhaps find someone who has a trouble free connection and review their Iphone settings.
  • Very important that you do NOT pair using the iPhone bluetooth settings. First, forget the bluetooth devices on your iphone and 1030. Then, start the Garmin Connect on the iphone and start the pairing proces. on the 1030, also start the pairing proces when requested. On the iphone, a "select device" window appears, select the 1030 to be paired. The 1030 will show a pincode, and the iPhone will show the same pincode. Accept and continue. The process can take a minute or so, some stuff is downloaded to the iphone. I just did this myself and it works fine.
  • Has anyone got this issue fixed? I'm still having the same issue. iphone 7 ios 12 and 1030. exactly the same issue as the OP.
  • I am on Android but pretty much every connection problem I had with my phone was solved by deleting the GC app from my phone, forgetting the 1030 in BT on the phone, re-installing the app and then pairing the 1030 with the phone through the app - do not accept a pair request from the phone itself, only the app. I think if the phone pairs with the 1030 before the GC app that things can be pretty hosed up and there must be something cached somewhere that keeps things broken.

That is my Android experience, but I highly recommend trying it on your iphone.
  • My week old 1030 paired easily right out of the box and worked perfectly until today. Now, I get unable to connect errors. I went through all of thee steps listed above to no avail. The process dies every time it reaches the step where the 6 digit pairing code is displayed. Once I hit "pair" on the phone and the check on the 1030 I get an unable to connect error even though both my phone and the 1030 show that they are connected. It leads me to believe that the problem is something with GC.
  • I feel your frustration. I never got mine to pair out of the box.
Seems that the issue effects some phones and not others. I have an iPhone 7 Plus. Tried on another iPhone 6 with success.
Garmin needs to find what the conflict with the connection. Same deal were the phone "pair" option is displayed however by the time it displays the 1030 the GC App has timed out and an error occurs.
  • I've just go the 1030, and have the same problem.
    My old 1000 workes perfekt!
My Phone is a OnPlus 6 with Android Pie.
COME ON GARMIN, GET IT FIXED!!!!
  • Any news on this OP? I have the exact same problem, out of the blue. I’ve tried everything suggested here and then some with no luck and am once again VERY frustrated by the lack of dependability of this product.
