Bluetooth pairing

Picked up the unit today, got it paired out of the box on the way home from the shops, new update downlaoded when connected to wifi , installed and now it won't pair.

Deleted the pairing on both phone and 1030, comes up on the phone with "sorry, your edge 1039 device wasw not found. Even though is connected.

Would like to connect it to sync it, no other way am i correct?

  • delete the edge from the garmin app, and then add it again, / reset the garmin to factory settings and start over with the new firmware, i haven a samsung S* and it pair flawless evry time
  • The Bluetooth is basically unusable. I've deleted, re-added, even factory reset, and I still can't reliably connect with my iPhone 7 Plus. Is there an ETA on a firmware with working Bluetooth? I can't believe they shipped the 1030 in this state. It's essentially unusable with v3.5...

    On my iPhone 7 Plus any time I’ve had it paired with my 1030 and it gets unpaired for any reason, the only way I could get it to pair again was to hard reset the 1030, remove it from my iPhone, and remove it from Garmin Connect. If I didn’t do all of that, it would pair with the iPhone but not Garmin Connect. The second step of the connection process failed every time.
  • I was seeing the same thing as getoutpa. Had to factory reset the 1030 and re-pair with the iPhone 7 Plus. It's such a nightmare. Moving to a new Edge unit is such a hassle already having to manually make all new data screens by hand. And, I got to do it twice because had to factory reset the unit. And, we're about to hit November and still Bluetooth is basically not working on the 1030. I'm on the verge of returning the unit.
  • My new 1030 unpaired with my iPhone6s when I stopped for 20 minutes and had moved away from my bike. I couldn't get it paired up again until I rebooted my iPhone. I've had to do that before with other Garmin devices. I didn't have to do a hard reset of the 1030. I had powered down the 1030, but that didn't help. It was the rebooting of the iPhone that did it.
  • In future just try toggling the the BT service off and then on again on the phone. What version of iOS are you running? (11.03)

    Unfortunately I can not say the same. I have continuous troubles connecting 1030 with Samsung S8. Sometimes I end up in the state when 1030 is still searching and Garmin Connect Mobile says connected. What is your configuration of S8 regarding location service ON/OFF, GPS ON/OFF, battery save setting etc. ???

    I forgot to mention that I have smartwatch Samsung Gear permanently connected to Samsung S8, and I am suspicious that Samsung gear BT connection could be culprit of Garmin 1030 troubles, because other devices began to fail to connect since i Bought Samsung Gear. Has anybody had the same experiance ????


    So the latest news, Samsung Gear is not the culprit. But the problem seems to be in Samsung S8 setting anyway. Finally I switched off batttery saving mode and since then my 1030 always connects to S8. I have been trying that for two days and have always succeeded. Battery saving mode kills application when inactive for some time and this may be the reason of the problem.
  • I have the same problems with my 1030 and my iPhone 6S Plus. Once they are paired, the Garmin seems to have unpaired/forgotten my phone after 20mins? of "inactivity".
