Update firmware and... lost my profiles!! Really Garmin?!?!?

Hello!

I've got my Edge 1030 yesterday.
I started it on and run the configuration menu (and I had no internet connection in the begining).
I've created new profiles.
Then... the next day when I turned it on again, it prompted me for the firmware update. I pressed ok. And when It rebooted... I've noticed that I got my profiles away...errased.... And all of the Is it configuration I've done...was back the the factory settings....

Did it happened to any one else?

Really Garmin?!?!?
Couldn't you do better?

Is it going to be always like that every time I update the FW??? Like it was for years in the Edge 1000???

Really Garmin?
I you ever tested it once before sending it to the stores???

There are loads of articles on how to do this here. In a nutshell:

To Backup Profiles and Sensors
Copy the GARMIN\SETTINGS\SETTINGS.FIT and all profile .FIT files in GARMIN\SPORTS directory to a safe place…

Has anyone got a guide on how to backup and restore profiles for the 1030? I`m fed up of recreating my profiles after yet another master reset. Thanks in advance.

There are loads of articles on how to do this here. In a nutshell:

To Backup Profiles and Sensors
Copy the GARMIN\SETTINGS\SETTINGS.FIT and all profile .FIT files in GARMIN\SPORTS directory to a safe place.

To Restore
Copy the saved files to the GARMIN\NEWFILES folder and power on the Edge.

p.s. Do not copy the files to SPORTS or SETTINGS folders directly.

Hello, If you are talking about activity profile, the solution is simple you just have to rename your profile. They won't be affected by future update.

Same here. Mine came this morning and got it all configured. After that it updated via WiFi and prompted to reboot. After reboot everything gone! Settings, profiles, sensors, the whole enchilada..

C'mon Garmin! But I guess I should have known better and backed up the settings 1st.

Same problem with my brand new 1030. I entered four activity profiles, navigation preferences, metric, etc. The device prompted me to upgrade firmware to 3.50 and then LOST ALL MY SETTINGS. I hadn't even had time to back up my settings. This happened as I was configuring the device before first use.
And even with metric selected on both the 1030 and Garmin Connect, speed in mph has snuck back into the display data screens several times - yet another Garmin mystery.
Please listen to us and lift your game, Garmin!
1) Loss of settings through a firmware update should not happen. PERIOD.
2) A brand new device out of the box should prompt a firmware update before wasting the user's time with entering settings that will be wiped out immediately because Garmin can't get (1) right.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. I hope the next firmware resolves this as well as the connectivity to phone issue.
