Routing

Is there anyway to stop the device routing you down cycleways? I ride a road bike and want to stay on the road and not be directed to cycleways.

This was an issue on the 1000 and had hoped they'd sorted it on the 1030
  • The issue is more to do with the map than the device. If you don't want to use cycleways use a road map.

I would manually create a route and use it - relying on the unit to provide a route rarely produce a good cycling route - the unit is unable to factor in safety, traffic, width of roads (safety again), hills.
  • IMO, the internal routing engine should err on the side of caution when choosing routes. It should choose known good cycling paths over roads.
  • What options have you selected under navigation -> routing

    Routing Mode
    Avoidance Setup

  • Sorry for late response been away.

    Route Mode: Road Cycling
Avoidance Setup: Toll Roads, Unpaved Roads, Ferries, Narrow Roads

    Thanks.

I've tested 1030 in MTB tour on Dolomiti. I found boring when i want only follow a course (previously activity for example) and edge 1030 continues to navigate me. On Edge 1000 I can follow a route and instrument tell me if I go off route. This force navigation cause a long time (2 min or more on long track) to see route on map. Map don't slide and when cursor go out of screen you can't see where you're going

I think "only follow course - no navigation" option should be insert

If for example I download a Gran Fondo track on my edge, it's useless that it offers me alternative road
  • Turn off auto recalculation for routes and it will stick to the programmed route.
