Edge 1000 switches off when SD card inserted

Hello,

I have a Garmin Edge 1000, and without SD card it works fine. But if I try to turn it on with SD card inserted it will switch off each time shortly after loading. It will also switch off shortly after SD card is inserted once it's on and running. Once connected to PC, SD card drive is shown, but empty as if no card inserted.

Has anyone else had similar issues? Is there anything I could try in order to sort this out or is it just a faulty card slot?

What size is the sd card and is it formatted

It's 32GB and yes formatted in FAT32, tried 8GB as well, same result.

Type should be SDHC (not SDXC - high speed). I use SanDisk Micro SDHC 32GB class 1 (4 speed) and ADATA Micro SDHC 4GB (6 speed) - both formatted FAT32 - without issues.

Formatting (full format with default settings) on a Windows 10 PC works ok, but using the official SD Card Formatter (Mac users!) is a better option. Both Windows and Mac versions available. See: www.sdcard.org/.../

I'am trying to fix this exact same issue. Very annoying. Just curious: how did you solve this? Formatting? New SDcard? Or was it the faulty card slot?

Well both my card worked on another device so I suspect it's the card slot that is faulty.

You are on the loosing hand already probably having a faulty card slot. So a remedy can be to insert and take out the SD-card many, many times after another, trying to cleanup collected dirt on the contacy strips inside. Another thing to try is using contact cleaner spray for electronic contacts.

same here, cards work fine on other devices ...
