Maps keep updating

Hi,  Every time I sync the Garmin Edge 1000 it keeps saying "You have Items Ready to Install", it is always the "Routable Cycle Map of Europe 2020.10".

The install always completes successfully, but the next time I plug it in, it wants to install again.

The ".img" files appear on both the device and 16GB SD card,

On the device there are:-

gmapprom.img, gmaptz.img, gmapgc.img, gmapdem.img - 5.51GB

On the 16GB SD Card:-

D6017020B.img, d6017010a.img, D6017030A.img, D6017040B.img - 10.9GB in total

Any ideas, do I need a bigger SD card to fit all the maps on that?

Thanks

First, backup your device's Garmin folder to your computer. Do the same for your SD card, which also has a Garmin folder.

Now, on your computer, open the IMG files, one at a time, with a text editor like Notepad++ that can handle large memory files, and close WITHOUT saving it. Make note of the map's Name and Version number in a separate text file. Garmin Express does not remove stale map files, so you have to do that clean-up manually.

    Hope that helps!
