Instinct surf

Quick question everyone. Im hesitating between the instinct solar and the instinct solar surf edition

At the moment I have the ripcurl search2 that I use for surf exclusively and a samsung smartwatch for day to day

Tired of having to swap watches and having to recharge them so often. I do alot of biking and hiking as well.

I believe the instinct solar comes already with the surf preloaded feature?. Can it also track standup paddleboard?

What are the extra features between the solar imstimct amd the solar instonct surf edition? (trying to justify the oroce)

If it's specifically for surfing I would hold off, see the numerous complaints on the surf-functionality in the dedicated Instinct Solar forum (you are now in the regular Instinct forum). Personally I only got the surf for it's tide-functionality, and although there are some caveats in that functionality too (need phone in range for updates, no internal tide calculator, just displaying tides parsed from phones cellular connection via Garmin app, sometimes error in connectivity, need to restart/reset watch) for me the tides function works well about 90% of the time.

But again; if surf-functionality is important: do not buy this watch (yet). I've read numerous report of surf-tracking not working well and have not encountered even one person that said it actually works well for him/her. On top of that, Garmin has never shown either interest in this issue or even the slightest intent to fix it.

Thx for the input. Cant you readjust rhe parameters to make the wave xounts more accurate?.

I do alot of.biking as well so yes surf is the main thing but I want it for also the bike and hike. My current samsumg watch although ok needs to be recharged way too often.

As far as I understand there are no parameters to be adjusted by the user. Somehow linking to other forums and threads doesn't work (as you mentioned), but If you click on 'wearables' at the top of the screen you should see 'Instinct Solar' listed just below 'Instinct'. Make sure to search for 'surf' on both (sub)forums, you will find plenty of information pertaining to what you are asking.
