Garmin Instinct Weather?

There was someone on the Fenix forum that was able to detect where the weather source was coming from on Garmin's watches.  If I recall correctly, Garmin uses your phone to obtain weather from major airports and military bases and not from local weather stations. Does the temperature on your watch match the nearest airport to you?  I can't confirm this as I have both close to me and the weather is pretty much the same at both locations. 

Nope, the nearest airport to me doesn't match the weather on the watch either. Garmin Instinct doesnt have temperature sensors does it? If so, its off. 

It does, but it's used for the barometer and not for your weather widget display.    I'm sorry, but I honestly don't know what's going on then and I won't be able to assist.  Hopefully someone with the answer will reply soon.

It does have a temperature sensor, and it is not off. It measures the temperature there where it is, and that's usually on your wrist. For measuring the ambient temperature outdoors, you'd need to place the watch somewhere, where it is not influenced by the body heat, the Sun, and by other sources of heat. The internal temperature is displayed on a different screen than the Weather Widget, though (the widget for it is called simply Temperature).

As written there, you can change the location for the Weather Widget in User Settings in Garmin Connect Mobile

It is very off. I did check the settings on the app and it is set to use the phone location. It is very off as you can see.

The phone location does not necessarily mean the same weather data provider that your phone uses. The question is also which of them is more accurate. Set the location manually to a location matching your local weather better, if you are not happy with the default one.

yeah, i checked my phone’s weather app, the weather channel, weather.com, my local weather tv station, accuweather, google weather and they all say somewhat the same thing. Garmin however, says it will rain at 11am. I guess i’ll find out in a few minutes if it will indeed rain.

Update: as of 11:08am, no rain in sight! Cloudy but no rain at all. So i dont know which location using my “phone’s location” garmin weather is coming from, but its misleading and inaccurate. 

Here's the link to the thread I was referring to in my first reply.  Though you said the data doesn't match your closest airport, you may be able to find where the data is coming from using the code and the link in the thread.  I hope this helps.

Somewhere along the line I read somewhere that Garmin uses Yahoo Weather as it's weather source. Whether or not that's a true fact or not I don't know. I do know, however, that my Garmin weather widget's data is consistent with the Yahoo Weather data associated with my location, and it's rarely consistent with my phone's weather data.
