Will my instinct solar recharge from totally flat battery (turned itself off) if I leave it in the sun or can it only charge from flat using the USB charger? (I don't have my cable with me)

My IS turned itself off and won't restart. Just before this happened I noticed a low battery symbol. I don't have my cable with me as I've been in the bush for the past two weeks and relying on the solar charge to keep it going. In the past this has worked for well over a month. So my question is, will my instinct solar recharge from totally flat battery (turned itself off) if I leave it in the sun or does it need to be turned on (have enough charge to turn on) for solar charging to work?

  • Solar charging should work fine even with the watch turned off.

  • Just an advice - the watch can heat up quite easily when let under a strong sun. That may slow down the charging considerably, and can be also unsafe for the watch (it is cooled by the body when worn on the wrist). Hence, I recommend keeping it in a container with water, which will assure an acceptable temperature.

  • Thanks. Good advice. Very hot here in Central Otago. So could have been a factor. Now showing 7 days worth of charge so on its way back. Just took a while for get enough to turn on again. I've now turned off several 'apps' on the watch so it should draw less power.
