Maps not recorded during a running activity (two times in a row, solar instinct)

It is the second time this week that i went out for a run with my garmin instinct solar (tactical) and it did not recorded any data about maps or running path. All the other data were recorded normally during the activity (distance, altimeter, time, heart rate, etc...) but there are no data about map.
Map data are not visible on both watch and garmin connect app/website. I also checked the previous running activities and their map data/running path are still visible.

I noticed that, in the last two running activity it is totally missing the option "map" in the activity menu.

How i can solve this?

  • Sounds like you did not have a gps lock prior to starting. Is your CPE current?

  • Today, while I was walking, I tried 3 times to start the running activity and all three times it worked perfectly.
    Activities lasted only few minutes (4/6) but time should not be an important factor.
    I do not think that running 50min could decrease the GPS tracking capacity.
    Probably, as you told me, it is important to wait a little more for GPS locking before starting. I will verify this in my next run.

    About CPE, i do not know how to check it. I looked on the manual but I did not find anything. However I sync periodically the garmin to the garmin connect app.

  • Make certain that you are not using the Indoor Running activity (GPS not active).  Use the Run activity.  Also make sure you have not turned off the GPS in your Run Activity settings or associated a Power Manager setting that turns off GPS.
