Garmin Instinct Solar is it worth to buy or not?

Hi,

I have never used any of the Garmin family devices. 2 days ago we had a deal on the Amazon.de with a dark blue Instinct Solar for 150 EUR/164 USD. I have 3 days more to pay for it. I think that the price is fantastic but reading some topics here it looks like there are tones of issues. Could you please share your honest opinion about the smartwatch and experience you've had with it. Would be grateful.

What are you afraid of ? The price is great. Buy the watch and test it. You have 14 days right of return. With Amazon possibly even more.

My suggestion is: get Instinct 2 solar. 2 has solved the barometric sensor issue happening all the time on 1, which is definitely a great improvement.

What do you mean by that ? The sensor of my instinct Solar works perfectly.

I don't wanna explain in detail but the issue is caused by the mechanical design of the sensor port placement. Just search in forum you will find this issue is common. Or you can browse on YouTube, there are videos talking about this issue too.

Yes, there may be a problem with this for some. For me I can say that it works well and I have no problems with it.

The user has at least 14 days to test the device. If it is not good for him, he can return it.

Definitely jump on it at that price.

The comments on this forum are skewed to issues people have, and nobody talks about how it’s an amazing watch with great battery life, features, and durability.

The solar 2 is nice but is a better sensor port placement, v02max, the app integration, longer battery life and a higher res screen worth $250 more dollars to you? It’s not for me, personally but it may be for others.

Disable location acces of Garmin connect app (to prevent wrong nightly altimeter calibration), buy or print barometer sensor cover (to prevent abnormal readings during sweaty excercises) and enjoy "smart G-shock". I paid 200eur for mine and would buy it again, at 150eur it's IMHO a no-brainer. I wouldn't pay more though, certainly not the full introductory price.
