Navigation - Skip the starting point?

Hey all, if this is a repeat question, I apologize.

When doing a course, is it mandatory that I start at the starting point? Yesterday I entered "do course" and started the ride not at the exact starting point and the whole time the Instinct was pointing me to the starting point, counting up the distance.

I can also see this happening when creating a hiking course, etc. where the exact coordinates of the starting point is not precise (parking lot, etc.). Or if I just forgot to press start.

Am I missing something? How do I prevent what happened yesterday and have the Instinct realize I've already started and am doing the course?

it "should" pick up wherever you are on the course and start advancing from that location. However I have sometimes found the same issue as you, the course doesn't start or will point me back to the start location. Whenever this happens, I delete the whole course and create and a new file. There are different ways to create a course, plotaroute.com, Garmin Explore, Garmin connect. I have found plotaroute.com more reliable than Garmin Explore, although I'd say 10% of the time I have this issue and end up creating a new file. What firmware are you on and what method are you creating the course?

I have also found, using plotaroute.com, that naming the first waypoint "Start" results in more reliable courses, although this may be pure coincidence..

I had the same problem until I manually updated to the latest beta, now release candidate. Things should have been improved in the latest firmware.

I had the same issue. I already transferred the planned route on my Fenix 6. Being at the location I wanted to start from a later point of my original track. The Fenix always wanted to route be back to the original one.

Finally I had to replan the tour on my mobile with outdooractive, and transfer a new gpx to the Fenix. This is more than cumbersome.

I have the latest Version 16.70.0.0.

Isn't there a way, that I tell the Fenix just to start from where I am?
