If your compass is always at the wrong degree after calibrating it, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.
Steps to Calibrate The Compass:
- Calibrating the Compass Manually
For all…
My compass also needs to be calibrated almost everytime I need it. When calibrating, the process is complete almost immidiatly ”figure 8”. Then it seems accurate when comparing to analog compass…
The compass error shows itself as follows: When I rotate the clock 360 °, it only shows readings between approx. 320 to 360 °.
When I subsequently calibrate it, I only have to move the clock quite…
I haven't had to calibrate my compass since the latest firmware release. Before so, I had a similar experience where every 2 days or so, if I checked the compass it would only point in one direction and would not rotate without a calibration. After the firmware update, I am on close to a month now without needing a single calibration.
Mine is off by 20 to 30 degrees almost all the time. Calibration helps a bit, but after a few days it goes off to even 180+ degrees sometimes (f.ex. facing north, but the watch shows S,SW).
Basically useless when trying to figure out which way to go whole standing still during an activity.
FW: 8.10 , Calibration shows successful, but is immediately off by around 20 degrees.
Any progress on the issue? I just got a chance to play with my old Instinct 1 and I can confirm that the compass in that watch doesn't need to be recalibrated almost before every use.
Take the springbars holding the wrist band from your old Instinct, and put them on your Instinct 2, and I bet the calibration issues will be gone (until you manage to magnetize them too).
