I have been struggling with Garmin Coached Running Plans. Generally these are quite rigid and not great (as has been described in these forums and elsewhere quite a bit). I've been using a heart rate-centric coached plan for about 8 weeks and it's going... alright.
What confuses me is sometimes Garmin Connect will just change the scheduled workouts without any wisdom (eg, contrary to what the data would suggest). Sometimes I'll check what "tomorrow's" workout will be today and then when tomorrow comes it changes to another workout. Okay, I get this, maybe the algorithm is adjusting based on additional data. Whatever. It sucks and sometimes I just use the next day's workout or do my own.
What happened today is different, though similar. Yesterday, GC had me scheduled for a threshold run today that I was quite looking forward to. I got great sleep, higher than normal HRV, training readiness was like 92, 0 hours of recovery needed, etc... Basically, the best possible condition I could be in. What did GC do, it scheduled a rest day today, as of this morning, after all these awesome data came in... At the last minute, it decided, despite my seemingly awesome readiness, I needed rest.
Okay, fine, I did one of my custom workouts because I had my heart set on a good run.
1. Why does it do this? Despite health indicating otherwise?
2. When I look at my Completed Activities, my last coached run has a green check by it but today's un-coached run does not. Why doesn't Garmin integrate my custom workouts into my program? What exactly does the green checkmark mean (assuming it has to do with whether it was a coached plan activity)?
