Anyone have their Fenix work for water activies?

I picked up a Fenix 7 9 days ago. I've surfed with it two times and now the back button doesn't work. I was expecting a lot more for a watch this expensive.

I do see posts of people using it for swimming and surfing, but is there anyone who has made this last for more than a few weeks?

I tried an Instinct 2, but that only lasted 3 weeks, so I'm worried that Garmin devices really aren't waterproof or durable. It seems like there is so much promise with them.

  • Many users reported this problem after using Fenix 7 and Epix in water for swimming or surfing. Some seem to not have a problem. Garmin is keeping quiet about it and offered replacement watch for some users.

  • Well just used my new Garmin Fenix 7s saph solar twice in the ocean: 5 mins swimming two days ago. 50 mins surfing today. I'd rinsed it after the swim and today one button stopped working after the surfing. I did the soak in freshwater thing to try and fix it... Now a second button doesn't work properly (pressing it for a couple seconds doesn't bring up the menu anymore)

Well for a 700€ watch which I intended to use for the sport of kitesurfing that's disappointing.... I'll ask for a refund and fingers crossed. Reading the report on Garmin France is really stressful though. Hoping I'll get a decent experience.

  • I went with the refurbished exchange. Looks new. So far this one has lasted much longer (I'm into week 3). I do think there was a problem with the buttons in a lot of them. This watch has a lot of potential, but I'm on my second one in 5 weeks.
