Fenix 7 Base vs 955, are you kidding me?

Reducing the price is amazing, congrats to everyone that is able to score such a fantastic ecosystem and watch.

But now I feel duped buying the base Fenix 7.

The 955 is $200 less than the base Fenix 7.

The 955 basically has the same screen. [Not really a complaint I suppose, but I'm reaching for any sort of "upgrade" the $700 Fenix has over the $500 955)

The 955 has 2x as much memory, are you serious? The base Fenix 7 has 16gb and the 955 ($200 less!) has 32gb.

The 955 has multi-band the base Fenix 7 does not.

The memory and multi-band are the largest slaps in the face. The furthest stretch I can reach for is I paid $200 more for less memory in exchange for ~10 more hours of GPS time.

  • If the 955 was available in a smaller size i'd be seriously furious. In a way I'm glad it's not. On the other hand it seems those of us with small wrists will always have to buy either high-end models or the cheap simple stuff (in gold or rose gold), and nothing in-between. So no, not happy but it would not have changed anything for me as the 955 would have been too big for me anyway.

  • As turns out  the 955 is not good as described in early reviews, at least not at the moment.

  • Looks as it's almost a bit slower navigating through the menu... I don't see this as really possible as it would make little sense but gives the feeling it has less processing power....

But very possibly, it's just the software that needs to be optimized a bit

  • That is not the point of original post. The point is that 955 has hardware (storage and GPS) that Fenix 7 standard does not, which is contrary to sound logic considering fenix 7 is positioned higher and is more expensive.

I wish that 955 software is ironed out soon so that is as capable as designed. Unfortunately, these devices  although costly come with unfininished software and it takes quite long time to fix things.

You're like a broken record.  A parrot that's learned only a few lines and nothing more.  Everyone understands the point of the OP's post.  We get it.  You were fine with your purchase when you made it and now you're not.  You're entitled every and anything that's not on your base Fenix 7 that comes on any watch after the fact because you're special and you think you have Garmin's flagship watch with your bare bones F7. If you don't get your way, you've been cheated and will never buy from Garmin again.  I'm not trying to pick a fight with you.  It's just getting old.  I'm sure people who agree with you feel the same way.  We heard you already.  You spoke your piece.  Stop replying with the same thing over and over again as it brings nothing to this thread.

  • You invest too much emotion into the topic.

There is no reason to attack people for having different opinion and stating facts, all the while sticking to the topic at hand.

I'm not emotional at all.  I'm not the one replying the same thing over and over again on the same topic.  Someone emotional about the topic would do that.

There is no reason to attack people

I'm not attacking you at all.  I'm asking you to stop doing something.  That's not even close to being "attacked" by any measure.  I'm saying you've been heard several times and you don't need to repeat yourself any more.

for having different opinion and stating facts, all the while sticking to the topic at hand

This is exactly what you're doing.  Anyone who post something against your stance, you come back with this same answer.  Let me remind you of what you said to the previous poster:

    contrary to sound logic

So, if someone disagrees with you they're not using sound logic?  When someone replies back to you you're being attacked?  Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

  • Well it certainly sounded like attack. Trying to silence someone is noy just a reply, but attack in my book. And no, I did not do that to another person. Repeating facts does not make them  less factual. Who is offended by them, his problem.

    We agree to disagree.
