Fenix 5x and intensity minutes - sometimes works, sometimes not

I'm using a Fenix 5x.

A) When I'm doing a walk and tracking it as an activity, then I'm granted with intensity minutes. Sometimes I even get some "vigorous" intensity minutes.
B) When I'm doing the same walk without tracking it as an activity (Move IQ does recognises it as an "activity"), then I'm granted no intensity minutes.
c) When I'm doing the same walk without tracking it as an activity and turn of the HR sensor, then I'm granted moderate intensity minutes.

Garmin: Why do I not get intensity minutes with B)?

  • A: i think last time tracking walking as an activity i did not get intensity minutes for the whole walk because my heart rate was really down. even with tracking.
B: i think it's hard, to tell with walking, because you have to stay continuous in a higher heart rate range for getting intensity minutes.
C: i guess when move iq does recognise it as an walk, but does not have HR data, it guesses you'll be in a slightly high HR zone and give's you intensity minutes.
