Strava premium users?

I was just wondering if anyone uses strava premium and if so why? What are the benefits?
  • I did for the past two years but recently let it expire. Main benefit for me was getting additional info on Segments leaderboards for running and biking. But didn't renew this year yet. Frustrated with Strava in general due to inability to edit distance or time for workouts when not accurate and poor navigation options (no next or previous workout button...always have to go back to calendar or feed view)
  • I have until May to decide whether or not to extend my premium service. I have all the same gripes as 0sea but have really liked the Fitness & Fatigue feature they added last year. However my FR645 should arrive today and I'll have the Garmin/Firstbeat equivalent and that will be redundant since it's pretty much the same thing.

Well - you do get to know all sorts of "exotic" places where there's apparently people running although there's nothing supposed to be there :D:cool:
  • I got it initially entirely for live segments. I do a lot of cycling and it’s useful to see if you are beating yourself (or friends, or the KOM if you’re good enough!) during a segment.
This js supported on fenix 5, but I mainly use it on my edge 520.

Fitness and Freshness is also interesting - it’s a bit like training peaks fitness and fatigue figures, albeit without much background info on how to interpret the numbers. (For example, training peaks states that a ‘form’ of -30 is more likely to result in injury and you shouldn’t keep form that low for prolonged periods - strava numbers are different and don’t offer any interpretation guidelines) The whole graph over time also changes when you change your FTP or max HR (not just future plot points) which limits its usability.

Suffer score and other metrics are also useful.

it also gives you some money off vouchers ($20AUD of wiggle being the only one I use) and free insurance for a taxi home if your bike breaks down (up to $50).

all in all I get my monies worth, but if you are just a runner I don’t thi k it would be worth it.
