I recently updated to v8.0 and since that time my training load has dropped from around 290 to the 130's. I have not changed my pattern of exercise. Is this a known issue with the new version of the operating system?
What a lot of people have experienced with the update to 8.0 is some strange HR metrics (eg. LTHR) and HR zones being imported from Garmin Connect. This can lead to the watch thinking you are working harder (or not as hard), despite the HR data itself being essentially the same pre and post update.
If you run the same route regularly, take a look at the Time in Zone for a recent run, and an older one.
If you think this is the case, you may want to set up your zones again from scratch in Garmin Connect (don't bother doing it on the watch, as it will just get overwritten from GC at the next sync). I know for me the zones were OK, but my LTHR went from 171 to 41.
