F3 v F5 VO2 questions / training calendar

Coming from an F3 the walk app didn't give a VO2 reading as this would skew the results from the running exercises, however on the f5 I seem to get a VO2 reading every time? Anyone know the reason for this please?

The other question is that the VO2 readings on the trail run app on the F3 are disabled by Garmin as they thought it would again skew the run app readings - is this the same case with the f5 now? I'm planning my 1st trail run for the year next weekend and just planning ahead!

And in an earlier post I was told I can access the training calendar by pressing START, selecting an app profile, and then holding down UP until the menu with the training calendar option pops up. My question is - does the workout selected in the training calendar use the app profile (such as Run / Trail Run / Hike etc) that was selected before it? This implies you need to know what workout you are doing each and every day in advance rather than picking the workout you feel like doing? Or does the OS just pick the app profile it thinks works best for the workout? Which implies Garmin knows what type of app you want to you better than you do!
I ask because when I select a workout from the training calendar I have no further option to select the app profile and thus data screen, I want to apply to the workout?

Going back to the F3 it was much more straightforward and intuitive, you picked a workout from the training calendar and then applied the profile you wanted... if there any way to do this or to make sure I can apply the profile I want to the training calendar workout I chose?

Don't misunderstand me - I am very happy with everything the F5 does but the training calendar seems to have taken a step back in terms of usability from the layout on the F3...

Thanks in advance.
