Recommended Screen Protector

Although I have the Sapphire 5 coming my way I'd still like to get a screen protector for it. Working in an industrial environment and doing sports that will mean it will get banged around I just don't want to have to worry about it.

    IQ Shield

I ordered the IQ Shield for my 5S sapphire. I've used them on my F3, iwatch 2, and daughter's Vivoactive. They work great and stay on through 8-10 hours a week of swimming, etc.
  • I got $4.99 OMOTON tempered glass ones on Amazon for a F3 that fit perfectly on my F5. As I understand it the screen is flatter on the F5 so it stayed down perfect on my F5 unlike the negative reviews for the F3.

I can say the Skinomi looks great. It takes 12-24 hours before it is at its best, as maximum clarity seems to come a few hours after they are applied. The come in a six pack, just in case you mess it up, but mine went on first try.

Its the bezel that needs protecting not the glass. Soft as anything and scratches so easy. I just touched my living room wall with mine and it scratched. At least my sapphire glass is all shiny and new :)

Yes, I agree the scratching of the bezel is the main concern for me, awaiting my F5X.

Anybody tried Skinomi full body skins on other devices?

They do one for the new Garmin Fenix 5 series but not available until 1st June.
Looks promising but there installation video is for a mobile phone so not readily apparent how good this would be on a Garmin F5.

Or do you know of other body skin products?

I was thinking of getting a full protection as well, but after doing some reading, there were complaints of the bezel skin coming off. Since this is an area where it gets rubbed along side your clothes and such , it starts to peal off, so it doesn't last long at all.

I ended up just getting the IQ Liquid Shield just for the face, not full body. ( I think the full body is just a sales gimmick , in the real world it just won't hold up).

I just ordered one of these, based on the reviews on Amazon for the Fenix 3 version.
I don't have it yet, so cannot comment on it.

Have you received this screen protector yet? Curious to see some reviews of it for the Fenix 5.

You will NOT scratch sapphire, you MAY shatter it. If your reason to use a screen protector is to prevent scuffs or scratches on the crystal its a waste of why you paid $100 more, but if you think it may prevent a shatter from a hard impact then perhaps worth it. That said I don't think any screen protector was ever meant to help prevent a shatter event. I've owned many sapphire watches I've never had a mark even rubbing against bricks, concrete, rock, keys, and more... only diamond will get it.

    Brotect

I bought this one and I have used it one week so I cant say much about it. It was easy to put on because its glass. No bubbles either. There was just one protector, nothing else. Protector fits well and its about 1 mm short, so its easy to put on because the glass is lower than bezel. I have fenix 5 without sapphire glass and my last device (Polar V800) got some nasty scratches. I didnt have protector on it.

  • Good to hear the Brotect AirGlass works well on the F5 too, it's been perfect on my FR235 for 6 months. Now they need to come out with an FR935 version ;-)
