Fenix 5 Plus Series - 9.74 Public Beta

We have identified a bug in activity recording that is generating files with extremely inaccurate values. We are removing this beta to prevent further problems. Our next beta version will resolve this issue.

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

9.74 Change Log Notes:

Added support for ClimbPro 'Climb Detection' setting in Cycling. (Bike > Activity Settings > ClimbPro > Climb Detection) This allows the customer to customize grade 'sensitivity' when identifying climbs.
Improved ClimbPro for cycling by adding category coloring to the ascent graph, which better depicts the difficult portions of the climb. This will also be available when reviewing the elevation plot for a course.
Added support for uploading golf scorecard and ephemeris files over Wi-Fi.
Fixed an issue where the device could register a speed spike during Ski activities.
Fixed an issue where long activity names could be truncated in some languages after upload.
Fixed an issue with proximity pairing a dual mode sensor.
Brought in improvements for CIQ media apps.
Made other code improvements and bug fixes.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

If you read something like this from a software developer, you got the proove that he's got a mess and doesn't care much testing, evaluating, tracking, fixing, thinking....

It simply reflects the overall attitude of Garmin that we experience with their products.

Hello. Is it necessary to place the gup3153.gcd file, found in the ANT_BLE_BT_V430 folder, into the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of the device even if I already upgraded to ANT/BLE 4.30? Thank you.

Are the update, my activities are crazy.
Speed and distances are utopian sometimes.

The same for me. I did a run yesterday and it registered as Other, with ludicrous speed and distance. However the automatic upload to Strava showed normal results there.

On the bright side, I earned an "Insanity Badge" for it :-)

Agree with fellow posters. Most likely a calculation issue with distance and speed. Showing abnormally large figures. In addition, the activity type is only displayed as 'other'. Calories, heart rate, time, Charts (elevation, speed, HR, temp) appear unaffected. Both Garmin connect iOS and browser exhibit the same behavior. I am rolling back to 9.1, then updating to the 9.72 beta. ( I keep a copy of all betas for this reason). Hopefully, they update soon.
