Charging slot pins damage (?)

Hello, I noticed that the four gold pins in the charging slot of my Fenix 5+, are somehow affected and small "holes" are on top of them. Where the pins of the cable make contact. It's like that the metal surface of the pins is burnt by small sparks maybe. Have you noticed something like this on your watches. It's not corrosion. I think that Fenix 3 had better charging system.

Including a Fenix 5S+, I have several devices with these charging pins, none of which have holes in them. I suggest that you either call or email Garmin support.

I just got my F5xplus replaced due to the same issue. (fantastic service from Garmin Norway, btw..) It is corrosion. The F5 manual says that it is very important to clean contacts before charging. Else sweat, salt and dirt may trigger corrosion when charging.

Likely caused by putting on charge when wet with sweat or water. As noted, contact Garmin Support and hope they feel generous enough to replace a user induced problem.

I bought some rubber caps to go over the port from eBay for £1 to prevent this, so far so good for me

It's not a user induced problem at all. So many units have this problem and garmin is aware of it and replaces the units. Even if you take care perfectly, some units have this problem and there is nothing you can do, you will always get corrosion on long activities.
