I noticed a 1-star review on amazon that caught my attention. Mostly because it is the only review for the epix Gen 2 so far. Anyone else find this to be a deal breaker?

In my opinion, this is exactly how I would want it set if it were a choice, so to me it is perfect. If I am in a dark room I wouldn't want it to come on as bright as I would want it if I were outside in…
I don’t understand the review. The watch has a brightness setting system>display menu. You can adjust the brightness of the display. It has worked fine for me. I haven’t seen any auto brightness except…

I think it's very easy to solve by firmware ....
High brightness increase risk of screen burn so maybe this is a some kind of safety measure.
In my opinion, this is exactly how I would want it set if it were a choice, so to me it is perfect. If I am in a dark room I wouldn't want it to come on as bright as I would want it if I were outside in the sun. The ambient light sensor seems like a plus feature.
Personally, i don't want to have a fixed level of brightness.
Auto brightness should be something pretty common between smartphones and smartwatches and that's the option that I have on my Venu 2 too.
If they made it as the only option it's perfectly fine for me as I'm not even considering a manual setting. If the auto-brightness is bad then i could consider to just not use the watch as i don't want to change it manually based on the situation and high brightness is not always ideal(without taking in consideration the issue of burn-ins).

The brightness does adjust according to the ambient light. If it is in “on” mode (say, after gesture turns it on) it is dimmer in darker conditions than it is in brighter ones. It is subtle and works very well. I can’t see anyone objecting to it or understand someone giving the watch one star because of it.
