Garmin Instinct Surf - Wave count and Forecast

Hello guys,

I just bought my Garmin Instinct Surf Edition, and I’m struggling with the Surf activity, when I paddle to the point after riding a wave, it counts as if I’m surfing. Is there a way to make it more accurate? Last Surf session I got 59 waves, which it wasn’t realistic.

Also, does Garmin Instinct Surf have a wave forecast app for surfing? It supposed to be a smartwatch exclusive for surfing, but it doesn’t have one of the most important features, which is wave forecast, only tides.

Anyone knows a way to solve these problems?

Thanks.

  • I'm considering upgrading from Instinct Surf to Instinct 2, now that Garmin has added the Surf activity to all models (with the latest firmware update. Can anybody explain how the Surf tracker 2 data field works? I can't find any exact info on using it on the forums. Since a few firmwares back, Instinct Surf 1st gen wave tracking is improved, but still not great.

Does Surf Tracker improve the accuracy of the watches built-in surf activity, or do you need to set up a custom activity with Surf tracker 2 data field?

I also sync my watch to Surfline (cam rewinds etc on phone app). Can anyone confirm if any method of using  Surf Tracker 2 is compatible in a way that the activity will register as a valid 'Surf' in connect, and sync ot Surfline, as per the built-in Surf activity?

And/all info would be much appreciated!
