Active Calories too high

Hi,

I did today a walk. It Was 3,55km and it took me 1,30 hours.

Now the watch says i burned 545 calories with this walk. I think this is way to much.

Is there a fix or someting i can do?

Thx

  • That Would be 545 - 137,5 = 407,5. And 407,5 is mich too high for a walk with my kid. I mean it took about 25 min for 1 km which is very very slow.

You did not post the Stress graph as requested, but already the HR graph shows the max HR of 143 bpm. That looks pretty high for a quiet walk with the pace of 25 min/km, and explains the high number of Calories burned.

I don't look at the figures too often, so it can be a full day or two before I notice it and the calorie count can be well over 1000 higher than expected over 24 hrs. The watch shows the HR at 130 or so, but when I physically measure my pulse the real figure is under 60. It only happens every now and again so I just ignore the figures for that time and reset the watch. Problem solved.

Donyou just turn it off or reset it complete? Are your records still on the watch or are they lost?

This was only the max reading. The average was 107.  407 calories still seems a little too high for and hour and a half walk even at that average.

That's still pretty high for a walk at the pace of 25 min/km. I would rather expect it at a pace of 10 min/km or faster. Yes it is individual, but the Calories burn is too, hence the the possible explanation of the difference between Former Member and his wife. Besides that, the stress level around the time of the walk seems to be pretty high, and stress increases the Calories burn too.

  • ... I have just checked a very similar walk activity of mine from yesterday - 1 hr 36 min walk with the average HR of 103 bpm. I burned 544 Calories - so as you see, all values practically identical. It is irrelevant that I moved with the pace of 10 min/km, and did 9.5 km. My RMR is lower - just 1816 kcal/day (~115 kcal during the walk), so the Active Calories were slightly higher in my case.

I already verified the Calories shown in my results multiple times with various tools and different algorithms, and generally the results from my Instinct match pretty well the theory.

So in conclusion, I'd tell the 545 Calories for the walk of  are perfectly credible.
