I first tried Connect, then Express, the last Web updater. The update is always downloaded to my watch. After the installation is started, within two seconds force close. GPS is still in version 2.3. Turning on and off did not help.
Contact Garmin Support. They may have to replace the unit, as I see a hard time with them providing refurbished unit since the top is glued to the case.

I had the same issue, and solved it by deleting previous activities on my watch. Apparently there was so little space available on the device that it could not even install software updates.
If this 2.5 update is like the Forerunner 935 GPS 2.5 update, the Galileo performance may be much improved.
Same update, but the Galileo improvement posted in the 935 forum must be unrelated. The update was for the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System, a Japanese system that works with the American GPS system and not for Galileo.
