If the gupdate.gcd file is compatible with your watch, it will prompt you for installing the firmware when you disonnect the USB cable, and after confirmation it will restart and report the new version number in Menu » Settings » About. If the firmware is not compatible with your watch, and you restart the watch, the gupdate.gcd will be simply deleted and the About screen will report the same old version number.

As soon, as the beta version is confirmed stable, and no old or new issues need to be addressed. Typically, the beta testing phase is anything between 2 to 8 weeks, but it can, of course, differ, under specific conditions. And if you own an APAC device, it can take another month or two before the new firmware is released in the APAC version.

Today my Solar Instinct Tactical froze in the morning.

I have automatic Power Save mode during my sleep time. Usually, I also set my cell phone to airplane mode during the night. Watch is set to be always paired with the phone. Today, when I woke up I noticed that my watch already turned off Power Save mode (as predicted) and probably started sync procedure. However my phone was in airplane mode so no BT communication. After some time I disabled airplane mode in my phone and few minutes later I go to another room with my Instinct (probably out of BT reach). During that time (more less, hard to tell) my Instinct froze. I noticed it about 30 minutes later according to the current time and time displayed on Instinct. Only way was to restart the watch. I am guessing that this freeze was related to failed BT sync.

I am on 13.81 for about 3 weeks now and usually my daily routine is similar. It happened first time. That is why I am guessing that BT sync up can be a cause of those freezes.

Noticed that altimiter auto calibration does not work in 13.81. I have both sliders set to On for "During Activity" and "Not During Activity", but altimiter never gets calibrated. I suppose altimiter has to be calibrated as soon as I start GPS activity and watches get GPS fix. But at the moment I have to calibrate it manually before starting activity, a bit annyoing because I forget to do this.  In my area athmosperic pressure changes drastically on a day by day basis, so for the same route altimiter readings can have 80-120m difference if I don't calibrate manually before starting activity.
