GPS stuck at 4.40 (!)

Hi all

I upgraded manually to 12.21 due to battery drain issues. I got an error while booting the watch saying "update error". Apparently all is working fine, but I checked that GPS was not correctly updated and remains on 4.40 (!)

I tried to update with Garmin Express, Im now in version 12.30 but GPS is still on 4.40 (!). I tried again, reboot, removed /REMOTESW/*.gdc, retry, reboot, retry... but still not updated.

Is there any solution for this (apart from Factory reset :) )

Thanks in advance!

the fun thing.. is that even if it displayed I had a new release of SW.. .. i acknowledge now that I didn't.. after the hard reset I have new widgets that were not available before, different screens (like in activity was all black now is white.. ) and so on.. I think that my watch was stuck on a very old release.. but let see.. if garmin complains it is out of warranty I would tell them that this problem happened a long time ago.. and see.

    it's a damn good watch and it's a shame it's not updating.. (and my Vo2Max is gone :-( )

Did you not enable TrueUP - I had and after a hard reset my VO2Max was not lost.

I had this same issue (stuck at 4..40!)... Someone in the Forerunner forums recommended deleting everything in the REMOTESW directory. After I did this and ran the web updater again the upgrade completed successfully! Note that after I deleted the EPO file, it came back... so I deleted it again :) It stayed deleted the second time. I'm guessing this file got corrupted somehow.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks I did that as well... and it didn’t work... something is improving before the web updated said I need to update all the language files and now they are seems up to date.
I don’t know what or where the epo file is ...

Called support they said that there is a problem on a western map and it’s a general issue the error on the update of maps and this is impacting the GPS update as well
they said to wait few days and a new system will be release.
