Hi, I can't install beta version 12.21 on the clock on the previous beta version 12.51. Does anyone have a similar problem?

To perform a "downgrade" you have to have the watch fully charged, if is not, it do not start the update.
  • Here's the reply I got from the beta team redarding the beta version number:

12.21 was created to fix an issue affecting a small number of users who were experiencing higher than expected battery drain. If you are not experiencing this issue, 12.51 is the most up to date software for you!
  • Garmin has rolled back the beta software version to include the changes below. This version addresses a higher than expected battery drain for some devices. This version does not include the changes in 12.51. If you are already on 12.51, you will not need to back date to 12.21 unless you are experiencing high battery drain.

Important: Back dating from 12.51 to 12.21 will trigger a factory reset on your fenix.

Changes made from version 12.00 to 12.21:
    • Fixed an intermittent issue where the device would display an incorrect sensor error message.
    • Fixed an issue where some devices were reporting a higher than expected battery drain.

    Hi Garmin-Daniel
I am one of those users affected by high battery drain - I am on my third watch, 2 returned. The third one seems better and battery lasts almost 10 days.
I am curious what causes this issue?

I have installed the 12.21 firmware and will test if this works for me.

    Hi
I have installed the 12.21 firmware yesterday unfortunately, still the problem with the battery drain.
The message "sensor error" did not appear. The battery discharge seems slower but it still happens (40% in about 2h).

For many of us 12.21 firmware definitely works: check this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-t...fenix-5/page14
You can try doing Factory Reset and full charge your watch.

Hi all!, writing on this thread since I've updated FW12 -production release- into FW12.21 (the only one available from the link above) which updates Sensor Hub from 6.20 to 6.25.

Does anyone know what are the detailed changes on Sensor Hub?. Only description I've found is "Fixed an intermittent issue where the device would display an incorrect sensor error message.".

Fact is, I've purchased 3rd party cadence/speed sensors (ANT+) which disconnected a lot on production firmware (v12.0 - Sensor Hub 6.2). On my first try on v12.21/Sensor Hub 6.25 connectivity has been 'almost' perfect compared to the old firmware.

'Almost' means, only a single drop on the whole session. And in this case, I'm inclined to think that there is some sort of incompatibility between 'auto-pause' function and these ANT+ sensors (may be slow reconnection or something going around).

I'll try my next riding without auto-pause in order to try this theory, but I'd like your feedback/ideas.

Thanks in advance and thanks Garmin team for your continuous support to the Fenix 5 line.

p.s. in case you ask, I'm using Fenix 5s (purchased in ~2017) and sensors are Magene Gemini 210 (which can be configured as cadence or speed by reinstalling the battery -batteries are brand new by the way, also swapped for troubleshooting purposes-). Also, I do not believe there are reception issues (tried someone moving pedals and wheel with me standing ~5m away from bike).

That's interesting to know about autopause and ANT - I have a tempe sensor and have the occasional dropout and I think I see a link - will test!
