Navigation not working properly since update 12.0

I use an OSM routable map. I select a point to navigate to and it routes me perfectly. The map screen has a field with distance to next and and as I get close to a turn, the watch vibrates and indicates which way I should turn. If i did it right, the distance to next value reduces. Really nice and really really useful!

Yesterday I recieved the 12.0 update and the above has stopped working. I still see the route on the map, the turn by turn instructions are correct, but the distance to next field always shows '0'.

I tried a factory reset and still have the same problem. I travel a lot and love this feature especially when paired with IQ Map Reciever and its annoying the hell out of me. I am pretty sure its teh update as they say they i'mproved' waypoint navigation. I guess they forgot to test it.

So my questions are :

1. Anyone else having this issue?

2. Is there a solution?

3. Can i revert to 11.0 safely?

  • After updating the map, the navigation works again perfectly.

What map did you update ? What symptoms were you getting before the update ? Thanks

the solution is delete EPO.BIN and then sync your watch with wifi. is very easy

I have just updated the European map to the latest version. Before that, navigation was not working. The watch showed 0 m to the nearest turn. Currently, the navigation works well, shows the correct number of meters to the nearest turn.

All maps updated, even Western Europe which wouldn’t previously update. EPO. BIN deleted and synced over WiFi, it seems to be working OK now.. not done a full test yet though. Thanks chaps
  • I synchronized the 5x by usb cable with Garmin Express, applying pending map updates, after that step, navigation to saved locations seems to be working fine

Did a factory reset and updated both the firmware(12.40) and the maps. Result: still broken

Navigation to saved location works once after factory reset and then never again. Always says distance to next waypoint is 0 and the heading pointer keeps pointing to the start point even though I right on the drawn route.

F5x seems to be the first Garmin product I wish I hadn’t bought.

Pussstinen, all you have to do to make it work is to erase EPO.BIN and update the clock with WIFI.

The perfect solution awsome stuff: - )
    works perfectly again!... running 12.40.
ps... perhaps we should pass the fix to Product support... to tell them how to fix their watch again... lol...

Thank you for the suggestion. Before I give it a try a few questions:

    1. What makes WIFI sync magical? Do sync via the phone or USB brake the EPO.BIN file?
    2. Do I have to do it every time after the F5x gets synced via the Phone or USB? My Mac tells me that the EPO.bin file gets modified every time I connect F5x via USB to my Mac.

I really hope this helps. Thank you so much for helping out!
