HRM Strap - grossly erroneous readings.

I have a Fenix5X which I use with a Garmin HRM strap for more accurate HR than the wrist HRM. This HRM and strap was purchased about 18months ago. About a month ago the HRM strap started giving grossly erroneous HR. Somedays it's substantially under reading (-30%) but on most days it substantially overheads (+30%) and sometimes it just 'locks' onto a HR mid-run and doesn't change. I've changed the battery and washed the strap but still no difference. The HRM/strap that this one replaced did the same thing at about the 18month mark of it's life :(

The HRM is a Garmin HRM2-SS with the Premium strap (4 sensors)
  • NeoSamurai glad the reset has fixed your problem - yes it would be good if Garmin support were more generally aware of this :)

Update. Okay sorry I should have posted this update quite a while ago. To refresh memories the issue is a 15month old Garmin Premium HR Monitor/strap showing crazy HR readings and locking up on those readings - unusable. (This is already my 2nd Garmin Premium HRM/strap)

a/. Rinsing/washing the strap didn't solve the issue.
b/. Replacement battery didn't solve the issue.
c/ Cleaning terminals didn't solve the issue.
d/. Replacing the strap for a $new$ one didn't solve the issue. (Couldn't return the new strap either due health regulations)
e/. Unit reset only momentarily solved the issue.

The reset (^above^) only appeared to work momentarily. After trying everything and finally consulting a Garmin specialist it appeared the whole HRM unit was effectively dead and unable to be revived - it just always and consistently 'locked up' with stupidly high HRs - completely unusable. This was my 2nd Garmin Premium HR Monitor - the first suffered EXACTLY the same demise and also at only about the ~15months mark.

So yet another AUD$90 to buy a 3rd unit. This is becoming tiring!
