Floor Climb app not counting floors after 8.00 update

I recently updated Fenix 5 software to 8.00 and since then "Floor Climb" app isn't counting floors anymore: floors are counted correctly in daily summary, but remain stuck to 0 when tracking floors climbed in "Floor Climb" app (and therefore they're not saved in the related activity log too).

I tried a full reset, and I even tried to downgrade to version 7.60, but there's no way to make it work again.
Any help please?

Thank you very much.

Yes, experiencing the same issue. Very volatile floor climbing. One day it works, the other day it wont register anything. Ive had this right before AND right after updating to 8.00. Actually, I thought the update fixed it, then today it stopped registering again. I do >20 floors a day in the office. Annoying it wont show up..
  • Did you try to re-calibrate the altimeter using the GPS after the update to FW 8.00 ?

Yes floor climbing worked several days and todays, nothing !!!
    Never happened before FW 8.0

Yes I did. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem, and as I wrote downgrading to 7.60 didn't work either.
  • Mine also Works intermitent, yesterday counted until the 13 floor, then stopped to count, a on-off reboot solved the situation.
Also after the 8.0 update mine shows a bad vertical speed, and the alture gain is also inaccurate.

  • Aside from running the calibration after each FW update, you need to make sure that the watch is not covered by your jacket or shirt sleeve.
In my experience, if it can't "breathe" properly, it won't give you a good reading.
  • Same happened to me. It worked for a couple of days and now 0 floors climbed. I recalibrated everything, I wear it in the same way since I have it, restarted but I didn’t solve the problem
  • Mine stops counting floors after an activity and needs a hard reset to start again. Only a problem since 8.0

On Fenix 5 after FW 8.0 floor count is broken shows 0 although in fact should be non 0. Restore to factory settings does not help.

This was reported in beta version 7.93. Why is it released without being fixed? What is the purpose of a beta?

Garmin pls fix ASAP this is a regression.

Same here with forerunner 935 after update 8.0 no floor climb counting and no reaction from garmin support
  • on my fenix 5 with fw 8.0 the floors are counted - at least some kind of... the floor counter is totally useless and nothing more than a random number.
if it is technically not possible to count the floors taken near the reality, one should simply ditch this feature or communicate, that the shown number is a random and just for amusement. i had one day, where the counted floors where quite right - the rest of the days the floor counter was nothing more than a joke.
