Software Version 8.00

4 hours ago is available new software, but via cable i can't download still not visible for me via Garmin express webupdate , mobile app.
My watch is no APAC so should be visible. How long should I wait?

After updating to 8.00 overnight, I went for a run this morning. On checking the performance widget afterwards, I discovered that my LTHR had changed from 171 (manually entered) to 41 (manually entered).

Garmin-Joey - Any update on when this "incorrect import of Garmin Connect settings" bug might be addressed?

check your lactate threshold setting under user settings on the watch. it is probably 41 and you can change it back to 171 there and do a sync. you may have to do another run for it to correct itself after that.
  • Update: power cycling seems to have resolved my floor counting issue. Hopefully it was a temporary problem and is now fixed.
  • Check out what it's now doing for your resting HR, however... assuming it's not just me.
  • DeckardWill, what are you seeing? Mine looks to have dropped by nearly 20% overnight since the update. I am in just my first week with the 5X though so not sure how accurate the algorithms are for me yet...

Until the update, the resting HR seemed to be calculated by getting the lowest average HR over any given 60 second or so period.

Now, it appears to have changed to take an average over a very long period (assuming an hour or more).

So mine has jumped from an average of 41 for the month, to 58 today. I'm sat at my desk, occasionally walking around, doing my job and talking but all of this activity seems to be counting towards my 'rest' HR calculation.

Presumably even strength exercises (planks for example?) will be included since there is no perceived movement.

This seems completely wrong to me. But again, I'm assuming others are getting the same... if you aren't, do let me know!

Mine seems to have dropped by 7-10%. I'm getting a little agitating with this. For an example my RHR went from an average of 53-55 to 47-48 with drop outs during the night.
When I check during the day I've seen it go as low as 43, when checking my pulse it's really 52 to 56. I think post 8.0 RHR was more accurate actually I think HR was more accurate and I'm half tempted to rest set the device.

Yes there's definitely been a change to the calculation. I don't wear mine during the night (I have the 5X - it's a bit too big!). But the calc used to use the sleep average, if the watch was worn during sleep, or get the lowest recorded HR during the day otherwise. I think the latter part of that has changed, so it's no longer getting the lowest daytime reading. It seems to be averaging out my entire day.

Garmin should at least explain what they have changed, instead of just staing they have 'improved' it.

Also, it now makes my data look really odd because I have this massive jump in HR as of today.
  • Some things never change - another Garmin software update and more issues then the update actually "fixes" - so glad I turned off my automatic update!
  • Floor counting seems to have stopped with this update. This is not definitive because on some days it doesn't work well and others it does. Today it isn't counting floors at all on my 5x and I do 20 floors. Anyone else?

Update: after barometer calibration floor counting seems to be working again now. Thanks for the guidance in this thread.
  • No problems with floors count,up down all ok after update, no issues.
LTHR manual entry problem? as mentioned above.
would be nice to have info regarding this, mine changed overnight from 156 manual entry to 126 manual entry.

LTHR changed back to 156 manual entry on its own today? :-)
