Fenix 5X - 7.54 Public Beta

Hello Fenix 5X users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Fenix 5X: http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...s.jsp?id=11665

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

7.54 Change Log Notes:
• Added the ability to access 'Broadcast Heart Rate' from the Controls menu (Settings > Controls) as well as through the system Hot keys (Settings > System > Hot Keys).
• Improved the smart notification text layout for longer messages.
• Improved manual weight entry for Rep Counting. When entering the weight for a set, the default value will be the weight entered for the previous set instead of 0.
• Improved the VO2 Max gauge in the Performance widget so that the arrow indicator is more accurate.
• Improved syncing of user settings and statistics between the device and Garmin Connect. Addresses issues like alarms being changed unexpectedly.
• Fixed an issue causing the Lactate Threshold page in the Performance widget to not show if an auto-detected BPM value is the same as one that was manually entered.
• Fixed an issue where the entered angle field would change its contents to a bad value within Jumpmaster.
• Fixed an issue where the scrollbar would disappear momentarily when adding a chart page (for example altimeter) to the activity data field page loop.
• Fixed an issue where the data field 'Gear Battery' showed no value on the Varia Vision.
• Fixed an issue where laps were not being recorded correctly while performing a lactate threshold test.

Please send all bug reports to "][email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 series you have in the subject line.

Please note that the public beta's are intended for non-APAC devices only.
• Thans for the beta.

Any progress on zoomable elevation screen and "ascent to waypoint / destination" datafield?
Last time I heard - it was a mail on 13th July from the beta team, James from the Outdoor Quality Team wrote:

"I know we are looking into the zoomable elevation. Will also review your other suggestion with vertical destination."

• Still no luck with alarm syncing: At one point I ended up with duplicated alarms on the watch. After I deleted all alarms on the watch, android app, and web site,
I was able to create an alarm on the app and have it sync to the watch. But an alarm created on the web page was ignored by the app and watch.
Finally, I turned off the alarm on the watch, but even after syncing a couple of times (with both BT and Wifi), the app and web page still showed the alarm as "on"
while the watch still showed it as "off".

Also, the web page showed this, which is not confidence-inspiring:

• The pool swim activity bug is still here : the interval length doesn't match interval distance, more precisely interval length is always 1 length behind from interval distance; for example when interval distance shows 25m interval length shows 0 until you press lap or stop, than interval length shows correctly 1. So interval length data field doesn't work as it should. I think that with all this information it isn't so difficult to fix.
• Barometer arrow continues to move on its own even if it isn't any pressure variation...
• The alarm-issue - can't this be fixed and sorted out, once an for all?
Case in point - if I set an alarm on the watch and then syncronize either via BT or Wifi, the alarm is gone.
The app has precedence over the watch, obviously.
Isn't there a way to make them equal?

Please delete all alarms from the 3 platforms (watch, Garmin Connect Mobile, and Garmin Connect web). Once all have been removed, try re-adding an alarm on any one of those platforms and let us know if the alarm you created shows up properly at all 3 locations.

This is normal when beta software is installed. It thinks there is a software update because 7.54 is not an official release, therefor Garmin Connect won't recognize it as a newer version. No cause for concern here.

Hope all this helps.

Please see the post above regarding the deletion of all active alarms, and recreating them to see if that corrects your issue.

• That did it! Cleared off all alarms from watch, mobile and desktop and then started to add them, delete them, change parameters - in all three places. Didn't get all possible combinations but everything works (as long as you sync). Great!
• Same here : alarm syncing issue fixed :-) Great !

Sweet! I also confirm that the alarm issue appears eridicated! Well done, Garmin!
