  • Hey smartypants , I am pretty sure r666t was referring to when this comes out of beta and goes live as a production version - not everyone wants to be a guinea pig for beta software.

If that was their meaning, I think I have seen that Run-Pow (which requires ConnectIQ 2.4) is supposed to go live on 22 Nov. So a new public firmware could be expected around that date.
  • Dcrainmaker posted a comment saying the run power release was delayed to something like 8th December. So it shouldn't be any later than that, agreed.

Absolutely no call for that. CW regularly posts helpful and constructive comments here. You're just guessing what the op meant, and you've used your interpretation to insult another user, where CW posted something intended to be helpful.

Sorry but I have to chime in on this. It's eating me inside! I am offended that you're offended at the original offense of the post that started with "Smartypants" !!!!

    Or am I?

As a Master Poster Mr. Mcbadger, by the way I'm hoping Wisconsin pulls off the snowy win today, I would think you've been there done that. When someone starts a post with "Smartypants" I immediately get the impression that it's to be taken a little tongue in cheek.

There... I feel so calm now.
  • Smartypants here. Either the OP didn’t see the link (then my post was helpful) or he was asking a question he would never get the answer to. Garmin never tell people when they are doing production releases but you can guess based on previous beta -> release delays. If the OP wants the features and can’t wait they should load the beta IMO, else just sit quietly and wait.

I always load the betas. Just a tip, if you have any issues on a beta always try a hard reset, and turn off any CIQ features before posting, that will solve a multiple of issues.

By the way, I agree that there could be an update for Runpow, but if I’m not mistaken Runpow needs CIQ 2.4 which is already in this beta so if they wanted Garmin could just release the datafield and tell people if it still in test and they’re need to load the beta.

Just a quick addition to this tip from CW, don’t let that stop you reporting the experience to the Garmin beta team via the email address in the first post by odsweng and even sharing the experience here. Whilst getting yourself out of the issue might require soft to hard resets and clearing CIQ apps, the point of releasing the betas is to find these odd clashes/issues and fix them before the next formal production software release. Part of the aim of these beta releases is to ensure that the people who only do production releases have as seemless experience as possible when they upgrade software (so don’t have to do soft/hard resets or remove CIQ stuff, as that was identified and fixed in beta before).
  • Just noticed a backlight anomaly for the first time... when I hit the start button to get to the list to do an activity, the backlight comes on when it shouldn't and stays on as long as the workout/activity is active. I have backlight settings to only come on after sunset for normal use and during an activity. I even switched backlight settings to always off and it comes on as soon as I press the start button.

    Anyone else seen this?

EDIT: Correction... the backlight does eventually timeout, but it doesn't obey the timeout setting, mine is set to 8 seconds and it switches off after 20 seconds. Maybe its a feature :-)
  • Yes, peteholloway, I’ve seen same behavior on my 935. I’ ve just posted aprox the same on the 6.78 beta thread for the forerunner 935.

    Thx
  • Is OHR during cardio activities better than FW 6.0?
