Steps done during an activity

Hi All

I used to use the following link to see how many steps I'd done during an activity . https://connect.garmin.com/minactivities?cid=611117

It hasn't been working since yesterday , and the new activity screen no longer shows steps.

Does anyone have a way around this

Thanks
Heine

For ST3 add the Activity Documentation plugin which also adds Custom Fileds. You will find steps (given as 'Strides') under Custom Data Fields view. Addtionally, if you right click on column header of Daily Activity view and select 'List Settings ...' you can customise what columns are shown; add 'Strides' and you will see this for all activites. However, do note that not all profiles record the steps in the fit.

To the OP. I see steps in my GC listings. Here too you need to right click the column header and customise which data columns you want; just add steps.

You say that not all profiles record the steps in the fit. Do you know which profiles records steps in the fit?
  • I've had a look through the FIT and TCX files, it doesn't look like STEPS are recorded at all in a walk activity.

    WHY GARMIN WHY ???
  • Only run profiles such as Run, Trail Run; but not Walk or Hike. Yep, that's annoying.
    [FYI: I always use Footpod.]
  • FWIW I have opened a support ticket for this. Let's see what they come back with , but I'm not holding my breath

Anyone else catch his drift ?

    Dear Heine,

    Thank you for your email.

If you click on the steps tab underneath activities, you can see the steps for activities done.

    Kind regards,

    Nope !!!
    Does he have some screenshots???

  • I couldn't add screenshots to the support ticket , however I will now have an email address so I will provide some. The way I'm reading this reply, he is talking about the daily activity steps tile.

When I use a Run profile on my whatch, and upload it to garmin connect, there is no option to choose "steps", when I use the option tab at the right side, only other options such as steps per minute are there, but not steps. I never used ST3, and you mentioned, that one can choose an option somehow which fields to use. Do I have to use ST3 to be able to use this?

The issue here is that Garmin Connect have recently changed the activities listiing format and do not now provide a steps column option. Their bad. I wouldn't expect everyone to get ST3 just for this feature when it should be in GC. Put it back Garmin.
