Bug: Bluetooth connection definitively lost after several connections/disconnections

Bluetooth connection is done (impossible to reconnect to bluetooth peripherical) after a lot of connections/disconnections.
2 cases that always generate the bug:
- Phone is connected to the watch with garmin connect. Leave the phone at the edge of the swimming pool in the bag. Do the swim session. After the swim session, watch is disconnected to the phone and never reconnects until shutdown/restart of bluetooth.
Even phones notifications are not functionnal so GCM is not in cause, it is the whole bluetooth link that is over.

- In triathlon mode, Connects a bluetooth heart rate chest, display of heart rate is ok, do the swim part, when you leave water and go on bike part, watch never reconnects to the bluetooh heart rate chest. You need to stop the activity and restart it to recover bluetooth link.

It seems that when bluetooth connection is continually connected/disconnected (at each arm stroke during swim), at a moment, connection is definitively lost and never recover.
It is not dependent of firmware, it was present on 2.4 and still present on 6.0

Please Garmin, correct this bug, this is inacceptable to not have reliable heart rate in triathlon for this watch !
Regards
  • I think the problem is in GCM, not the watch. When mine drops the connection and doesn't reconnect automatically, toggling Bluetooth off on the watch and then on inside GCM always reconnects it; toggling on the watch rarely works. It might be worth posting this in the app forum.

ETA: sorry, my eye skipped over the bit about the Polar HRM. I still think there is probably an issue at the GCM end, but obviously that can't be responsible for the HRM behaviour.
  • The problem is not linked to GCM because it is the same problem with my bluetooth Polar H7.... After a swim session, it never reconnects !
Problem is bluetooth link of the watch, after a nulber of disconnects/reconnects, the watch lost definitively connection

This happens exactly to me with my 5X and Polar H7/H10 even when I do my running without the smartphone with me (so no link with GCM possible). It's a very critical bug Garmin is still far away to solve (if can be solved....).
My latest workout (September 24th) is self explaining (see red chart of Polar H10).
  • I think my problem is different, i have no problems with my H7 or my phone with bluetooth connection, it nevers disconnects .... until i swim !
I think garmin should close bluetooth connection during swim workout and reconnect at the end.
  • My bluetooth is disconnecting while not an activity at all, just watch/HR mode. I notice it when (a) I get bored at a meeting and notice my HR is "--" not a number, or (b) notice my battery is 65% or something, when it was 99% in the morning and I have not done anything but watch mode all day.
It has happened in each of the past two days in the middle of the afternoon. It depletes the battery quickly because it seems to be clearly trying to connect.
Toggling the GCM app does nothing; have to fiddle with the phone connection on the watch.
This is JUST in the past two days. My impression it is related to the 6.0 update.
  • I periodically lose Bluetooth connection with my Fenix 5S, and can always restore it by turning off Bluetooth on my iPhone and then turning it back on. When GCM says my watch is not connected, my iPhone says it is connected.
  • I have absolutely no problems of bluetooth connection except after a swim activity. It seems that there is a maximum number of disconnects/connects during a time window before bluetooth connection hangs and never try reconnection.
  • I have several disconnects per day with my S5. Other BT devices have zero problems so it's the watch for sure.
Mr. Garmin, please look into this!
  • Issue: I also have the Constant Connected/Not Connected Status issue with Fenix 5 and Polar H7. During any activity, "No HR" appears on HR screen.

Troubleshooting: Unpaired GCM, factory reset Fenix, Re-paired with GCM. iPhone is completely turned off. H7 battery discharged and confirmed @ Full Capacity. Recently got a new chest strap as contacts wear down over a couple of years.

H7 consistently works with various iPhone apps - (ie. Polar Beat) and 5GHZ Gymlink equipment so problem points to Fenix.

    "About" Sensor Details:

    ID:E2A226D022
    Tech: BLE
    Model #:
    Man. #:
    Serial #:
    SW Ver.:
    Battery: Invalid

Even though Fenix 5 consistently pairs w/ H7, Fenix cannot read H7 properly. Firmware problem? Critical issue for people relying on BLE chest straps for activities when wrist HRM is inadequate (ie. Cross Training).

    gnowell,
    let's cross the fingers.
Don't really know what's happening in Garmin to positively solve this issue.
