Now Not Able to Connect to iPHone

Hi,

I just recently updated to 6.00 with my Fenix -Sapphire, and now it will not connect to my phone. When I go into my iPhone settings, it shows that I am connected to the Fenix.. but when I tried to use it or add it (after I've removed it) to Garmin Connect.. it will not show up in the app. I have tried factory resetting my Fenix to no avail. Anything else I could try?

Thanks,
  • TL;DR - try force-quitting and restarting Garmin Connect Mobile app

I've had a similar problem for several months (which corresponds to the time I was running iOS11 beta) so have been through this pain. I also tried all the resets, re-installation and re-pairing mentioned above, some of which would seemingly work for a while, but eventually my f5 and iPhone just wouldn't talk again. This seems to have got worse since the official iOS11 release and the latest f5 firmware though.

I've no solution to prevent these disconnects, but I've discovered that, for me, the way to get it to reconnect isn't that drastic. If I force-quit the Garmin Connect app (when running the app, double-click home button, then swipe the GC tile up to force-quit it). Then re-start the app and hopefully the f5 will be connected again, 90% of the time it is, the other 10% it will reconnect itself within the next 5 minutes or so. YMMV.

Of course, if you've already unpaired or re-installed GCM in an attempt to fix this, you're going to have to get it back to properly working again before this is going to be any help for you, but if you are experiencing these disconnects (or actually I find it's a failure to reconnect after the phone and f5 have been too far away from each other), I'd suggest trying this before you do anything more drastic as I know from experience that can be a whole bag of hurt and by doing this I've not had to re-pair or re-install for months.

  • from my iphone, ios 11, from settings - bluetooth I no longer find in the device list the Fenix5 .... so it's as if the Fenix bluetooth signal is off ... this is possible?
Of course on the Fenix 5 the phone association is started ...
  • OLEEEEE is now connected !!!
I do not know if it has something to do but I deleted wifi networks recorded on Fenix ... we hope so ...

I had the same problem. I used the tech support chat on here for the fix. Here's what I did -

Go to bluetooth settings on your iphone and click to your watch and then forget it.

Turn off bluetooth on your iPhone

Turn of location services on your iPhone

    Restart iPhone

Turn bluetooth and location services back on

Go back into connect app on your phone and pair the phone

  • Wish I would have just chatted with tech support before I reset my Garmin! No biggie, hopefully this works for others too.
  • Sorry to be a party breaker here but the issue will come back. I now need to do a network settings reset almost everyday in order to get the watch and the phone in sync. Garmin you need to fix this...
  • My phone-watch connection is fine, but yes, hopefully they get this fixed because there is obviously a problem !
  • I have also the same problem. It can be fixed temporary if I delete the BT-connecten and reconnect the watch, but it only last for a short period of time.
