worst accuracy ever

  • I was doing some comparison of activities with a friend that owns a Fenix 3. It seems to be more accurate than my Fenix 5X. We both did a 25k trail run a few weeks ago, and his GPS track and distance were more true to the course. Now his Fenix 3 was still short in distance, 14.59miles, but it was closer than my 14 miles. Now I've ran the same course a week later, using a calibrated footpod, and recorded just over 15 miles. The GPS track was still disappointing, but at least my distance was good. So at that point I've decided to invest in a Stryd. So far my tests with the Stryd pod have been very impressive and about match my FR735XT with no calibration.

Now I'm not asking for perfection, because I know that small antennas in these watches will struggle on the trails. But I would hope that a $700 watch would perform as good or a little better than a sub $300 watch...especially one that's marketed as an outdoor/adventurer watch. I've compared my trail run route to a FR235 and it seemed better too.
