Be careful, I just got the original from Garmin because I was afraid that no matter how original those look, If they are imitations which they are, the clasp maybe cheap and snap off during an activity. I know it looks and sounds great to go cheep, but I'm not taking that chance on a MTB ride or in the ocean with a $ 700 dollar watch, just to save like $40 dollars, no dice.
I wouldn't buy this unless you are ready to buy another watch.

I intend to use these for the gym to test them out and maybe on a run or two. I'd have no intention of using them for any activity where having your watch not fly off at speed is a critical requirement. For then I will have one of the 3 Garmin straps that I will have (the one that came with my watch, another silicone one and a leather one).
At 16% of the price of the Garmin one for me it's worth checking out to at least see if it's any good.
I don't know about you , but there have been many times where I didn't plan anything for the day and all of a sudden I'm at the beach or a run or whatever. I didn't have to think twice about changing my watch strap for the event. I have four Garmin straps and two NATO straps for my 5. I know that every one of these is 100% trustworthy. The last thing I want to do is , every time I want to do something physical, I have to worry about changing or even having to bring my other straps with me everywhere I go.
I just want to be able to not worry about my watch falling off because I was trying to save a few bucks, it just doesn't make sense to me.
After writing about this I just remembered that last year I got a camel back because it was cheap and looked cool from China. Well , after my first MTB ride with it, I found that I had lost a $150 dollar pump and a $ 80 dollar torque tool from a rip on the bottom where the stitching came apart on only one ride.. Yeah, after that, I will not go with the cheap stuff imitation again.
What we also should think about is the fact, that the Garmin price is surely not matching the real value of those bands. The only reason they are able to call such high prices is the fact, that there are no 3rd party bands with the quickfit mechanism. I guess if third parties start to produce such bands also the price at Garmin will drop by 50%. That is why I want to try the "cheap" bands. Even if the quality is not the same as the Garmin bands, I do not think that those will fall apart when using in common sport activities.

Yup just waiting the month or so it'll take for them to arrive. In the meantime I'm making the most of my official leather band (it's awesome in case you're wondering haha).
Nice to see Garmin are releasing a number of new straps as they start releasing other watches that use the Fenix 5 base.
Because I have a silver F5 I'm quite keen to get the stainless steel strap when that's widely available. My experience with cheap bands from my F3 is that the silicone ones are fine but I wouldn't buy another third party metal one again.
