Has anyone tried removing the OEM quickfit mechanism and attaching it to a conventional strap? It doesn't look like it would be all that difficult. You'd just need to make sure that the strap was thick enough, and you'd probably have to shave it down a bit at the end for cosmetic purposes.
I can't talk for the third party leather bands, but I've had the official Garmin one for 5 months now and it's solid (once you carefully round off the sharp edges of the buckle so it doesn't scrape and dig in to the leather as you tighten or release the band). A friend has some of the third party silica gel and metal 'rapid fit' bands and they are absolutely fine given the price, but with the leather band I sense you will only get what you pay for and the official Garmin leather band is actually worth the money (unlike the official Garmin SS band which is 10 times the price of the third party ones and simply isn't worth that steep price tag imo).
Is anyone using a Garmin OEM metal band on their 5s? I see that only color available, for $149, is Champagne... not sure about that. I'm looking to get one for my wife's 5s.
I bought a leather band from Etsy for my Fenix 5 and I really like it, but there isn't a quick release on it. I didn't like the Garmin leather band for the F5. Wish it did have a quick release. I also bought some of the cheap "rubber" bands with a quick release system and they have been ok. It did release once when I was playing beach volleyball and landed on my arm. I did hit pretty hard.
Hello Guys Please recomend me a seller with a good quality aftermarket wristband for my fenix 5. I read on the forum about CARPRIE brand...I would like to order this band, from China, because im located in Romania. Thanks a lot.
