How to get full contour detailed maps on the Fenix 5x

It is an area of my tourist hikes in 2017. :)
Map 2018: mountains (border area) Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia.
It is a special map for walks along marked walking trails (selection of elements, 3 TYP files: BaseCamp(Oregon600)/EPIX/Fenix5, special routing).

From 2004 I am using own IMG Garmin maps. My maps are best for me. I know what I need on the walking GPS map. :p

Because they don't include detailed elevation and contours which lots of people want especially walkers

Yes, they do include contour lines and elevation. I would be surprised if these maps are not good enough for lots of people, especially walkers.

Just been onto the site and I can't download contour version for the device but only got basecamp. How do you get them on?

Each map has a base map, a topo map and one with contour lines you can install and then transfer to your device with MapInstaller. The one I downloaded (China) has contour lines and elevation data on the mac version (.gmapi) in Basecamp and on the 5X.

There are various possibilities. Poland/Slovakia mountains. The best map - specially prepared for walks with Fenix 5X :p :D

Removing Maps?

G'day,

Has anybody found the correct way to remove a map from the 5X?

I've read heaps of places how to add one, but if I add it, and find that I'm not happy with it, how do I then remove it?
I've also heard horror stories where people have destroyed their preloaded maps trying remove aftermarket ones.

Can Basecamp add and remove maps from a 5X safely?

There are several methods to install them on the site.

The information about tacks and paths is not as clear as on the Edge (obviously) but still usefull. The cliff on the right side is clearly indicated by the contour lines.
