Fénix 5x screen flickering

Is there anyone who has this little flicker on the screen? Is seen with any type of light (sunlight or indoor) and with the backlight off on the clock. it's a small flickering, but the screen of my fenix3 is completely fix compared with the screen of the fenix 5x

Got mine from BLACKS 2 days ago serial no 54h and it's flickering this is the top of the range watch and Garmin won't acknowledge the flicker and I have the cable issue as well with Mac book air

Here, in Poland I will have second replacement. I like Polish Garmin support, they are ok and replace unit without a problem. But why the hell still is the problem with 5x screen flickering and why garmin won't say a word on how to fix it or that there is a problem.
  • Hi, the flickering is by design and every fenix 5x has it.
    It is too save energy.
The flickering is most of the time barely visible, so it is not very annoying.
If you turn on the light, the flickering is totally gone.
Thats why some person do not see it, because the watch lights on by wrist movement.

One other thing is, if you are changing from watchface to settings or something like that.
In this situation, the watch imitates a fade in / out effect, which may look like flickering as well.

Both behavoiurs are by design and no hardware fault.

Any news from Garmin ? i guess no... :(

I've call Garmin France last week but they seems not aware of this problem...

This watch is awesome but very expensive, i don't understand that this kind of problem exists !

I don't think that it's a battery issue, when i turn light on, there is no flickering anymore.

I really hope this problem is a software issue and not hardware... :(

Please Garmin ! recognize the flickering problem and tell us what we can do !

Is this problem is present on 5 and 5S ?

How do you know this is by design? Where did you get this info?
Fenix 3 didnt have this problem and there are reports by people that recieved repalcement units of 5 and 5x, that say flickering is not there anymore.

What's your new serial no mines been replaced by the store today with another 54 we shall see tomorrow when I have a look

Spoke to garmin UK who i directed to the YouTube video and said that they had received a couple of issues re flickering screen. They wanted me to send it in for repair but wouldn't send me a replacement until it was received wasn't waiting for 5/7 days so took it back to Blacks outdoors who had one left

Update my replacement is still doing it, so it could be part of the watch and let's play devils advocate maybe the non flickering ones are faulty. Can understand the rationalale that it's a refresh thing

..and what are you going to do with it now. another replacement.. I am in the very same situation , and starting to be tired of fenix 5x.
  • I had the flickering on my regular 5 (sapphire). Garmin sent me a new one and it doesn't have the flickering. I got the express replacement, so my old one is on the way back to them now, we will see what Garmin says after they receive it.
