Problem with the loading cable

I received my 5x yesterday. Unfortunately I have problems with the loading cable. The connection to the PC is not stable and need to bend the cable slightly at the connector to the watch. Has anyone have similar problems?
Garmin Support will send a new cable and i hope it solves the problem and there is no defect at the connector of the watch.
By the way I am not very happy with the new design of the connector as dirt will get in there quite easy. A plastic cap would be nice to cover it.

  • aaronjm - thankfully they asked me to only send in the core. It arrives there today so hopefully will be fast turn around and will see it tail end of week or early next!
  • Angiomam - did they send you a complete replacement? I sent just the base unit (as requested) and kept'd the cable, metal and plastic band. Replacements for some of those would make up for the shipping. Z-74 - just gotta do it! Funny enough I miss the watch on my arm but I know it'll be worth it to put this pesky problem behind us!


    They sent the entire retail box, containing watch, straps, cable, manual. Was specifically instructed to just return the watch face, without straps or cable (on its way back today!). New watch works great, and as mentioned above, the cable fits snug and secure. Its nice knowing I can still sync to Garmin Express if need be, which wasn't an option with the original.

    If you are in the 30 days, replace the whole thing, as it is not working as it should. Money Garmin will lose and may think the next time to do it properly, at least quality control.
  • Ahh - I sent mine back first rather than fronting for the replacement. Will see if I get a different support experience!
  • My watch arrived at Garmin this morning and a replacement is already being shipped out! :-O

    I've only sent the watch... and I only sent it because of the baro. I could live with the annoyance of the USB connection problem but I really had no other option when the baro broke.
    I am TOTALLY lost without the watch on my arm. Got to rethink how to remind of dozens of things, starting with ... couting the lenghts at the swimming pool again.
    3 weeks ... if I am lucky.

    Upgraded to 6.00 with no issues. Upgraded maps with no issues
  • Mine is due on Thursday! Been a long two week end to end process! Did you get full retail boxes returned too?
