Problem with the loading cable

I received my 5x yesterday. Unfortunately I have problems with the loading cable. The connection to the PC is not stable and need to bend the cable slightly at the connector to the watch. Has anyone have similar problems?
Garmin Support will send a new cable and i hope it solves the problem and there is no defect at the connector of the watch.
By the way I am not very happy with the new design of the connector as dirt will get in there quite easy. A plastic cap would be nice to cover it.
All the best

Garmin first replaced my data cable (that did not work). They recently sent me a new unit and that is not connecting either. Some how I think Garmin made a huge mistake changing to a new type of connector when the old style ones were working just fine.

So I am left with a watch I can charge through the computer but I can't get data through the cable.

I'm curious about what Garmin wants to do. They can not leave it, they need to construct a new cable. As if the contacts were not enough. As it seems, there is the problem around the world and have been around for some time.

After sending back my 5x ordered and delivered late April 17, last Friday i got a new one and the problem with the loading cable is solved - the contact watch - cable now is really tight and the connection is absolutely stable - i can move, bend, shake now while connected to the mac and nothing is disconnected -

Does the connector look different on the watch? I have the option to send mine back but didn't want to do it on 'just a chance' a new one might work.
  • In a previous post I wrote the following:

"I have reported the problem of disconnecting the data cable to garmin. Garmin has replaced the cable with a new one. The problem has not been resolved.
I connected my fenix 5x to the usb port using a usb Trust hub (believe usb 2.0); Now the connection is stable !!!!!!
So, to solve the problem, it seems sufficient to connect the fenix 5x through a usb hub.
I invite you to try and let me know what happens to you."

After a few days, the problem with the usb cable is again present with the usb hub connection!

Can GARMIN not be able to resolve the issue?

    Ebay cable's are better

I ordered this cable and they seems to have a lot tighter fit to the watch than the original cable.
I now can pickup my watch after it is connected to my macbook pro 15 sierra without disconnecting.
Some times the watch doesn't mount at all.. but after reboot mac or watch it appears again.
I'll never use the original cable again.

Can confirm that the cable above is much better.
Can wiggle the cable attached to the watch and it stays connected the whole time.
It may wear over time and get worse but now, it's great.

Garmin is now saying it is the USB port on my computer! Unbelievable! Apparently everyone has a bad usb port!

Hmmm tried it in a few different hubs on different pcs and had same effect. Also other devices connect to those same ports without issue. Garmin are wrong there.

Garmin is aware of the issue.
I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to connect. It's the cable alright we all know it. But the fact it wears off in about 2 months is a big problem. Why are they so sloppy... sending back watches is a big loss and sending cables to thousands of people is a loss too. Why oh why did they change ... the F3 connector was just PERFECT.
  • Garmin has changed the connector in the back side of the new Fenix D2 Charlie (more or less same watch than the Fenix 5x).ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1233015.png
