Although I have the Sapphire 5 coming my way I'd still like to get a screen protector for it. Working in an industrial environment and doing sports that will mean it will get banged around I just don't want to have to worry about it.
I purchased and fitted a Brotect Airglass protector. It went on perfectly and was almost invisible. However, it did slightly increase the reflectance, particularly at an angle and it increased the milky appearance of the screen slightly, a bit like the saphire does, so I took it off. However, I'm very fussy about the readibility of the screen in low light.
Yes, on my F5. The reduced screen visibility was very subtle, but noticible in low light. I deliberately chose the non-saphire version for the same reason. Still would say the Airglass is the best screen protector to get for people that want one.
I still swear by the Skinomi. Application is the simplest I have seen. The protector is at its best after a few days, with maximum clarity. I thought I got a bubble under mine, but it disappeared after a couple of days. Their application system is possibly not unique, but it is the only one that I have used with a wet application.
Interesting coincidence - the Skinomi and IQ Shield each have a release date of May 15. Same manufacturer?
I'm leaning towards a glass screen protector. Had a film protector on my Fenix 3 but from many comments it appears the glass protectors may be more transparent.
Would love to see some pics of the Fenix 5 with the screen protectors installed.
I have tried and used both the IQShield, and the BroTech Airglass, and while both are excellent screen protectors, I'll stay with the Airglass.
Why?
Because first, the price is much less, and coming from Germany to the US is still about a week, not bad at all. The Airglass is stupid easy to put on, and it, while being glass, is actuall flexible, so you can put it on like the IQShield plastic protectors, but it is much harder. In fact, I noticed with the IQShield, there is a slight "drag" when you move your finger across the watch face, not so with the BroTech.
Don't get me wrong, both are excellent screen protectors, but for me, the BroTech wins, hands down.
Just my 2c worth.
