Old vs new HRM-RUN heart rate

I'm trying to see if the fenix 5 will work fine (meaning all features supported) with the older version of the HRM-RUM (sensor can be removed from strap).

According to Garmin's site, the newer HRM has more features (ie ground contact balance), but I know people that get those metrics with the older strap as well.

Can someone check this for me. I'd like to go for a version without the HRM now (and maybe get the tri version later for the summer swims).

Every chest strap that communicates with ANT+ that Garmin have ever released sends R-R data; it's part of the ANT+ HR standard. I still have the strap that came with my FR 305 over ten years ago, and that sends R-R data.

So, sorry to make you repeat yourself. Just to be clear, the soft-strap no-running man (base model) Garmin HRM can gather R-R data? So, I'd be able to use that one with a Fenix 3/5 to get a Stress Score?

As MCBADGER said in post before this the "all black" HRM modell can and will give r-r data.
I have the HRM, the "old" hrm-run (black w. White runner) and the new hrm-run (red sealant)

All of these give stress score

    Great to hear. Cheers!
